There are a number of bus stops around East Ayrshire where, before lockdown, it would have been typical to see queues of people at peak times. These queues would frequently prevent other people from walking past on the footway. Although bus usage is currently lower than it was, as lockdown continues to ease this will begin to increase over time. When physical distancing requirements are also considered we believe that there may be interventions that we can take to make this safer for everyone.
We initially reacted as quickly as possible by placing laminated posters in bus shelters (as shown below):
We are now following this up with more robust signs (see below):
We would like your input to ensure that we are reaching both the busiest stops, stops where the footway is particularly narrow, and stops where users are having specific problems.
